Research Project: ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CONSERVATION PRACTICES IN SELECTED SUBWATERSHEDS IN THE YAZOO RIVER BASIN

Location: Watershed Physical Processes Research Unit

Project Number: 6408-13000-018-04
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 30, 2003
End Date: Aug 31, 2008

Objective:
To assess the effectiveness of selected conservation practices in the Yazoo River Basin subwatersheds in support of the NRCS-CEAP program.

Approach:
The approach is to determine land use practices from existing FSA and other data sets and to select from among those fields that have been subjected to a given conservation practice. These fields will be instrumented to determine runoff and collect runoff samples for the determination of nitrogen, phosphorus, sediment, dissolved oxygen, and the temperature. The data will be converted into a form suitable for model input.
