Research Project: IMPROVING THE EFFICIENCY OF FOODFISH AND BAITFISH AQUACULTURE

Objective:
Study costs incurred through predation by birds on farm-raised fish; develop a value-added product research program to develop new products and conduct market tests of new products; develop biotechnology capabilities related to diagnosis of fish health problems; enhance the research program of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Aquaculture/Fisheries Center in the areas of baitfish spawning, effluents management, fish nutrition, economics of aquaculture production, and sportfishing.

Approach:
The faculty/staff of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Aquaculture/ Fisheries Center will be solicited for research proposals to address one or more of the agreement's objectives. In consultation with ARS, proposals will be evaluated by the following two criteria; 1) projected research must be high-impact and address critical issues in Arkansas; and, 2) research must have potential to be published in peer-refereed journals.
