Research Project: Increasing Soybean Yield with Exotic Germplasm (Minnesota)

Location: Soybean/maize Germplasm, Pathology, and Genetics Research

Project Number: 5012-21000-026-27
Project Type: General Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 01, 2014
End Date: Nov 30, 2014

Objective:
Produce high yielding varieties and experimental lines from exotic soybean and wild soybean germplasm and develop new technology to more efficiently select and utilize exotic soybean germplasm for increasing yield.

Approach:
Make new crosses for high yield with diverse exotic parents and to make selections from segregating populations supplied by ARS in maturity groups 00, 0, I and early II. Cooperatively test experimental lines with private companies to identify highest yielding lines. Map yield QTL’s in one or more populations of maturity group 0.
