Location: National Germplasm Resources

Project Number: 8042-22000-280-08
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: May 01, 2014
End Date: Sep 30, 2015

Objective:
Develop and validate diagnostic protocols for the detection of Torradoviruses.

Approach:
The University of California, Davis will provide the virus isolates for the assay development. The virus isolates will be maintained at the University of California Biosafety level 3 (BL3) facility. The University of California and USDA-APHIS will develop diagnostic protocols for the emerging torradoviruses. The USDA-ARS-NGRL will validate these detection protocols and prepare a report on its observations and findings. The participation of NGRL and California Department of Food and Agriculture is at the request of USDA-APHIS to obtain additional scientific data to support a sound regulatory decision.
