Research Project: Ceap-Grazing Lands

Location: Range Management Research

Project Number: 6235-11210-007-33
Project Type: General Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 25, 2013
End Date: Nov 30, 2015

Objective:
Provide landscape-level validations of Ecological Site Descriptions (ESDs), interpretation of National Resource Inventory (NRI) data, improve Rangeland Hydrology and Erosion Model (RHEM) output parameters, collect plant data for use in process-based modeling, and to improve methods of data collection and analysis for NRI and rangeland modeling of ESDs and State-and-Transition Models (STMs).

Approach:
1) Complete pilot tests of RHEM with NRCS field specialists and procucers throughout Arizona. 2) Plant parameter data collection using a ceptometer on seleted species within the Sonoran and Chihuhuan Deserts. 3) Conduct additional testing of RHEM outputs and assist in the development of the new risk-potential parameters, on plot-data collected throughout Arizona.
