Research Project: Chemical Ecology of Asian Citrus Psyllid in Relation to Myrtaceous Plant Species

Location: Subtropical Insects and Horticulture Research

Project Number: 6034-22320-001-43
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 01, 2013
End Date: Dec 31, 2014

Objective:
To investigate volatiles associated with guava and other Myrtaceae species and their influence on biology and behavior of the Asian citrus psyllid.

Approach:
Expose adult psyllids to citrus alone and to citrus adjacent to Myrtaceous plants and determine if the psyllids successfully colonize citrus when Myrtaceous plants are present. Investigate antennal responses to citrus volatiles alone or in combination with volatiles from Myrtaceous plants.
