Objective:
Develop methods for and evaluate efficacy of co-planting watermelon and bunching onions for managing soil-borne diseases in watermelon in field tests in Charleston, SC, and Manteca, CA.

Approach:
Methods will be developed for co-planting watermelon and bunching onions to manage soil-borne diseases. Effects of co-planting onions and watermelon on watermelon yield, vigor, and incidence and severity of soil-borne diseases will be determined in field trials in Charleston, SC, and Manteca, CA. The proposed research will be funded by National Watermelon Promotion Board.
