Research Project: Assessing Edge-of-Field Water Quality Impacts of Innovative Agricultural Management Practices

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 3604-13000-011-30
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Feb 06, 2013
End Date: Nov 30, 2014

Objective:
Quantify edge-of-field phosphorus losses following changes in management.

Approach:
Using automated samplers and control volumes we will instrument and measure hydrology and water quality from edge-of-field sites in Ohio. The sites will be representative of crop production practices throughout the state. The data will be used to quantify the hydrology and water quality impacts of different management practices and to evaluate (validate) the current Ohio Phosphorus Index.
