1. Coordinate with ARS and Fundação Pau Brasil (FUNPAB). Collaborative research is being carried out with scientists from UESC (Univ. Estadual de Santa Cruz), CEPLAC/CEPEC (Commissao Executiva do Plano da Lavoura Cacaueira/Centro de Pesquisas de Cacau); Instituto Cabruca, Ilheus, Bahia, Brazil; UENF(Univ. Estadual do Norte Fluminense) Campos, RJ, Brazil; and EMBRAPA-Center, Santo de Antonio, GO, Brazil in development of needed facilities and locations to implement greenhouse and field experiments and mutually acceptable research protocol. 2. This agreement will emphasize the coordination of research approaches of the USDA/ARS and all collaborating institutions mentioned here and will promote sustainable cacao production research and identification of abiotic stress-tolerant cacao genotypes and perennial cover crops. The agreement promotes international partnerships and cooperation with the USDA-ARS.
