2. Assist in training sessions to teach producers, crop advisors, Extension personnel and scouts how to use the system.
2. Training sessions will be developed to teach growers, extension personnel, and scouts how to use AgScouter in both Florida and California. ZedX will be an active participate in the development and implementation of the training session and will be responsible for teaching the overall functionality of AgScouter. In cooperation with the PI’s, ZedX will assist in the development of user manual and will create a series of online tutorials accessible directly through the AgScouter website and/or through the online site YouTube.
At present, we have been working closely with our California collaborator to identify and map production fields in California and to upload relevant crop production information, including the specific crops grown, insect pests, and diseases in to the AgScouter system. The development of the chemical management database is currently underway. The database will consist of all registered chemicals and the relevant information on the pesticide label for the crops included into the AgScouter system. Online tutorials have been developed and uploaded to the AgScouter site and a draft user’s manual has been produced. A video conference call was held to introduce the main users of AgScouter to the new iPhone application. Plans for on-site training sessions in both Florida and California have been discussed, but none have been planned. ARS PI communicates each Friday with ZedX to receive updates on progress. Email communications are used to facilitate additional communication.
