1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
Develop geospatial databases and technology to assess the effectiveness of land management practices at multiple scales for application in the USA and China.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
a) Develop Geographic information system (GIS) databases to document land cover/land use and other key aspects of China and USA agricultural watersheds needed to determine water, sediment and chemical sources through simulations with watershed models.
b) Investigate remote sensing methods for characterization of climate, watershed properties, and management practices for assessment with the AnnAGNPS watershed model in reducing pollutant loads.
c) Develop and enhance the AGNPS model for applications and simulations for conditions in China and U.S. watersheds.
Technology was exchanged to study the effects of management practices in China and related practices in the USA in order to improve USDA watershed modeling technology. A series of invited seminars were provided by ARS scientists at the University of Hunan Science and Technology, China.
