Research Project: Apex Calibration on the Lake Plain Soils of the Maumee River Basin

Location: National Soil Erosion Research Lab

2013 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
The objective of this work will be to calibrate and validate the APEX model for the Lake Plain soils of the Maumee River Basin.

1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Published data from the Lake Plain region with information about hydrology and nutrient loss pathways will be summarized. Specific field research may be advanced on priority research questions to assist with model calibration. The APEX model will be calibrated and validated given the best available dataset, in order for NRCS to utilize the model on NRI datapoints within the Maumee basin.

3.Progress Report:

The APEX model has been calibrated and validated for the glacial till areas of the Maumee River Basin. Surface and subsurface water quantity and quality data are being collected to calibrate the APEX model for the Lake Plain soils.
