Mcc Namibia Monitoring and Evaluation Support
Range Management Research
2013 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
Provide due diligence assessment and/or implementation support of the agricultural and/or land projects in Namibia. Specifically, this scope of work covers support from USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) for implementation support to monitoring and evaluating aspects of the Namibia Compact's Land Access and Management Activity of the Agriculture Project.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
We will work with local collaborators (MCA-Namibia - Millennium Challenge Account) and under MCC guidance to develop and support implementation and interpretation of a rangeland monitoring and evaluation system for the Namibia Compact's Land Access and Management Activity of the Agriculture Project. This will include developing and modifying protocols, developing an electronic field data entry system, providing training, evaluating data quality, and providing data analysis and interpretation.
In 2013, we revised data collection protocols, improved the Android-app for field data collection, trained field crews in Namibia, and summarized and analyzed the resulting data. We also worked closely with our Namibian colleagues to ensure that the data may be used to support local objectives, in addition to addressing the requirements of evaluating the MCC project.
