Research Project: INFLUENCE OF CULTURAL PRACTICES ON VEGETABLE PRODUCTION

Objective:
The objective of this agreement is to continue ongoing research investigating the influence of cultural practices on vegetable production. The vegetable crops investigated in the research will include cucurbits, peppers, and onions. The cultural practices will include planting systems, organic and synthetic herbicides, natural and plastic mulches, cover and rotational crops, and chemical and non-chemical means of insect control.

Approach:
ARS scientist will continue to provide design input in the areas of planting systems, cover and rotational crops, and organic and synthetic weed control practices. Oklahoma State University's (OSU) cooperator will provide design input concerning variety selection, and mulching and insect weed control treatments. Cooperator will conduct the experiments at OSU's, Wes Watkins Research Farm, Lane, Oklahoma. ARS scientist will serve as an advisor concerning the analysis and reporting of the research.
