2013 Annual Report
Field monitoring of wetland plants susceptibility to spp. of Phytophthora is ongoing. Thus far over 350 plants samples and plated subsamples of the root systems to determine if any spp. of Phytophthora had colonized the plant root systems have been collected. Thus far, 22 Phytophthora isolates (6 spp. of Phytophthora definitively identified) have been collected from 10 of the 14 plant species screened. Additional sampling is ongoing, with an expanded palette of plants sampled to better characterize prevalence of Phytophthora hosts within the constructed wetland systems. Not only does this data provide information pertaining to plant susceptibility, but serves as a map showing Phytophthora occurrence patterns throughout the water containment and treatment infrastructure. Most plant species infested with Phytophthora were established within production runoff channels, and not within the treatment wetlands proper.
