2013 Annual Report


1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
The objective of this agreement is to allow the National Bonsai Foundation (NBF), hereafter referred to as COOPERATOR, to provide funds to the Agricultural Research Service (ARS), United States National Arboretum (USNA), to assist with the reconstruction of the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum’s Japanese Pavilion to enhance programming and utilization of the Japanese Pavilion and to allow NBF financial contribution toward maintenance and development of the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum and its programs if funds are available.


1b.Approach (from AD-416):
The Japanese Pavilion is the oldest structure in the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum and is the venue for the display and interpretation of bonsai that have significant notoriety in the international bonsai community. As such, there is unmet potential for programming and utilization to enhance the visitor experience in the Japanese Pavilion. The NBF has partnered with USNA in development and maintenance of the the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum and its programs.


3.Progress Report:

This agreement is to allow for use of NBF funds for reconstruction of the Japanese Pavilion in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum. The design work for these renovations has been completed and a contract will soon be awarded to complete the work.
