Research Project: NATURAL ENEMIES OF EMERALD ASH BORER IN RUSSIA

Location: Beneficial Insects Introduction Research

Project Number: 1926-22000-023-16
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 01, 2012
End Date: Dec 31, 2012

Objective:
(1) Complete sampling of all ash trees previously girdled under the previous agreement (58-1926-7-104F) for emerald ash borer natural enemies (2) Complete data analysis and final report on work specified under previous agreement (58-1926-7-104E)

Approach:
Investigate natural enemies of emerald ash borers on girdled ash trees in Russia at several suitable study sites determined from the previous study. Inventory and collect natural enemies attacking the target pest, assess role in population dynamics of pest, set priorities for importation, and ship promising species to Newark for further study. Monitor and sample selected sites intensively to determine the role of natural enemies in population dynamics. Hand carry or ship by air freight, natural enemies to U.S.
