Research Project: Long Term Site for Foundation Seed Potato Increase

2012 Annual Report


1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
Prepare and provide ground and growing season services for seed potato increase for breeders seed in the ARS Potato Breeding Program.


1b.Approach (from AD-416):
The cooperator will prepare acreage agreed upon by the Potato Breeding Program for planting of seed increase plots and will provide irrigation and spraying services for the plots.


3.Progress Report:

Travis Weeks Farms, Inc. (TWF) prepared 4 acres of land for seed increase plots by preparing the ground for planting of seed potatoes. This work was done starting after May 10, 2012 and the Potato Breeding Project planted the plots on May 21, 2012. TWF has applied herbicide by ground sprayer on June 6, 2012. TWF has also applied irrigation as needed to the plots. The work conducted contributes to Objectives 1 and 2 of the in-house project.
