Research Project: FILLING THE GAPS IN NEMATODE MANAGEMENT IN POTATOES

Location: Vegetable and Forage Crops Production Research

Project Number: 5354-21220-010-53
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Oct 01, 2011
End Date: Sep 30, 2014

Objective:
Determine the feasibility of reduced nematicide chemical control when resistant potato is grown on Root-knot nematode infested ground

Approach:
Plant resistant and susceptible potato in field where various types of nematode control strategies ranging from standard fumigatns (Telone and Vapam) to soft nematicides (mocap) to biofumigation (mustard meal) are the treatments and compare this with no treatment. Nematodes will be counted in soil samples and damage assessed in harevested tubers. Components of yield will also be meaured.
