Research Project: Social Network Analysis of Biofuel Value Chains

Location: Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory

Project Number: 5445-21660-002-06
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 01, 2012
End Date: Jun 30, 2013

Objective:
Assess supply chain structure and interactions among institutions to identify and overcome barriers to successfully implementing an oilseed to hydrotreated renewable jet (HRJ) fuel industry.

Approach:
Relationships between actors in the oilseed to biofuel value chain will be mapped as they develop. An Appreciative Inquiry approach will be used to monitor, assess, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the oilseed to jet fuel value chain using techniques developed for phone-based focus groups. The method will include bringing actors together on a regular basis for updates on what is working and how to build on the positive approach.
