Research Project: EVALUATION OF CANAL POINT (CP) CULTIVARS FOR YIELD PARAMETERS AND DISEASE SUSCEPTIBILITY IN NICARAGUA

Location: Sugarcane Production Research

2012 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
To develop sugarcane clones with high-yielding disease-resistance potential and evaluation for sugar production.

1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Sugarcane seedlings will be produced from high-yielding disease-resistant parental clones with wide adaptation. Superior clones with high vigor, growth and freedom from diseases will be selected and established in yield trials to identify superior clones.

3.Progress Report:

Forty seven CP-clones were shipped to Ingenio Monte Rosa, S. A. in Nicaragua for yield and disease evaluation. CP-clones imported to Nicaragua in 2011 germinated and are in quarantine.
