Research Project: WEB-BASED MONITORING TOOL ENHANCEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

Location: Range Management Research

2012 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
To enhance and develop web-based tools to improve the ability of natural resource professionals to collect, find, and integrate the best available information for management decision making.

1b.Approach (from AD-416):
ARS and the Cooperator will jointly develop web-based database, information and analysis systems for monitoring and assessment that enhance and/or integrate existing ARS databases and tools.

3.Progress Report:

During FY2012, we upgraded our websites with a number of new features, including JournalMap, a web-based application that is the first ever to allow users to use geospatial criteria to identify all journal articles published in journals that have been geographically indexed. We also initiated development of a web-based version of the widely used Database for Inventory Monitoring and Assessment (DIMA).
