2012 Annual Report 1a.Objectives (from AD-416): The objectives of this cooperative research project are to continue implementation and development of the Landscape Toolbox project, and to develop technologies for integrative assessment and monitoring of rangelands at multiple scales in the context of landscape ecological potential. 1b.Approach (from AD-416): Collaborative research will be designed and implemented at jointly identified sites in the western United States including Idaho. Research will focus on:. 1)designing methods for describing ecological sites and ecological potential at multiple scales in a globally-consistent manner,. 2)designing assessment and monitoring technologies appropriate for both ground based and remotely-sensed indicators of ecosystem properties linked to those ecological site descriptions, and. 3)development of integrated knowledge and information systems to support ecosystem management. 3.Progress Report: In FY 2012, we worked with our cooperators to develop and implement standardized inventory, monitoring and assessment methods, and to develop a suite of integrated knowledge and information systems necessary to apply inventory, monitoring and assessment data to management. Specific projects addressed by this collaboration are described in progress reports for funded projects.
