Research Project: ENHANCEMENT OF COLD TOLERANCE IN SORGHUM

Location: Plant Stress and Germplasm Development Research

2012 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
To characterize selected germplasm lines of sorghum for response to cold stress at early season and at other specified stages of development.

1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Establish and conduct replicated screening of sorghum lines for disease reactions to various seedling pathogens of sorghum.

3.Progress Report:

For FY 2011-2012, initial screening for reaction to seedling damping off disease was initiated using parents and 80 recombinant inbred lines from the BTx623 x PI567946 population. This project is synergistic to the research objective #2 (subobjective 2C) of the parent project 6208-21000-017-00D by providing information on disease reaction of inbred lines and promoting collaboration with university research partners.
