ENHANCEMENT OF COLD TOLERANCE IN SORGHUMS
Plant Stress and Germplasm Development Research
2013 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
1. To characterize selected germplasm lines of sorghum for response to cold stress at early season and at other specified stages of development.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Establish replicated field trial of sorghum lines in various locations to estimate genotype by environment interaction.
We report the completion of replicated phenotypic characterization of the 226 RI lines from BTx623xPI567946 (B623*HKZ) for combined strong field emergence and seedling vigor under cool (54-56 F) soil conditions in South Dakota. This facilitates evaluation of cold responses under various location to determine environmental effects on expression of cold tolerance.
