1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
Breed for high oleic acid, low linolenic acid and high oil soybean breeding lines/cultivars in maturity group II-IV.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
The objective will be achieved crossing high oleic acid lines from Missouri with maturity group II-IV soybean cultivars and selecting high oleic acid progeny lines using marker assisted selection with melting curve assay on Lightcycler 480.
Several sources of high oil, low linolenic acid and high-oleic acid soybean lines have been crossed to high-yielding high-protein non-genetically modified organism (GMO) maturity group II-III soybean lines from Ohio in 2012. The progenies from these crosses will be advanced and new crosses will be made.
This project expands on the research on the improvement soybean quality aspects of the parent project (objective 4).
