2012 Annual Report
This Memorandum of Understanding was developed by ARS and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey (BOP) National Conservation Area (NCA) in support of ARS and BLM rangeland restoration research, management and educational outreach programs. In 2012, BLM and ARS continued monitoring vegetation, and developed information for developing an Environmental Assessment (EA) scoping document to initiate longer-term restoration planning. ARS participated in educational outreach activities by giving presentations to area grammer-school students as part of BLM Discovery Days in May, 2012. ARS and BLM also initiated planning for more extensive educational outreach to high school science teachers in the region and development of workshop and field-trip plans for FY2013. The agreement was established in support of Objective 3 of the in-house project, the goals being to improve scientific understanding and to transfer technology related to assessing and mitigating the impacts of ecological disturbances by invasive weeds within sagebrush ecosystems of the Intermountain West.
