2012 Annual Report
A conventional group V line, S07-6557 with elevated protein content (37.5 %) and acceptable oil content (18.4%), has been evaluated in the Uniform Quality Traits test and in advanced tests in southeast Missouri for 3 years. This conventional line with higher than average protein is from Osage x Danbaekkong and has averaged about 2% more in protein content. It was the same yield as Jake and 5002T, high yielding conventional varieties. Three other productive conventional group V lines, S09-18186, S09-18244 and S09-14199 with about 37% protein and 19% oil were evaluated in advanced yield tests in southeast Missouri in 2010 &11 and Regional Uniform Group V tests in 2011. In addition to higher than average protein contents, these three lines have broad resistance to soybean cyst nematode (SCN) races which include races 2, 3, 5 and 14. These lines versus popular Roundup Ready and conventional checks of similar maturity were equal in seed yield.
