1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
Conduct seed increase of 400 lines of an association mapping population in Year 1 and conduct a drought study on a subset of the same lines in Year 2
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Four-row plots of each entry will be grown under irrigation in the field in 2009. Harvested samples will be cleaned and distrbuted to researcher in early 2010. The drought study will be conducted in Prosser, WA, at 50% water deficit using a randomized complete block design.
Ninety-six dry bean genotypes were tested for response to drought at Othello, Washington, in 2011. Data obtained will be used for genomic association mapping studies. A few lines with tolerance to drought were identified.
This project relates to objective 1a of the parent project, with the goal of developing markers linked with genes conditioning tolerance to drought.
Collaboration in monthly conference calls, periodic field site visits during the summer, and attendance at an annual workshop in January is used to review progress and work plans.
