2012 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
Study emerald ash borers and associated parasitoids.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Ash logs and/or other plant and insect samples will be collected, stored, and sampled to investigate the biology and behavior of the emerald ash borer and associated parasitoids.
Approximately two to four EAB-infested ash trees were felled and debarked from each of three sites for recovery of previously released biocontrol agents. ARS scientist assisted in the development of sampling procedures for the evaluation of the establishment and impact of released biocontrol agents against EAB populations in Maryland, while the Maryland Department of Agriculture helped ARS with collecting, storing, and sampling EAB infested ash logs for recovery of EAB adults and associated parasitoids.
