2011 Annual Report
This project is a one year environmental stability study for soybean lines with altered raffinose family of oligosaccharides (RFO) profiles. The objective links to the in-house project "To develop the molecular basis for modification of the fatty acid components of soybean oil and anti-nutritional components in soybean meal to use in accelerated breeding programs" by evaluating the environmental impact on the altered oligosaccharide profile trait that can enhance soybean meal value and is controlled by one or more genes. The project was initiated April 1, 2011. The seeds from five different lines were planted in two experiments: a planting date study and a location study. Spring weather issues somewhat hampered the planting activities.
