1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
The overall objective of this cooperative research project is to conduct research on the relationship among yield, drainage water quality, and anhydrous ammonia application timing.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Observations will be collected from subplots located over individual tile drains within a production field to obtain data on yield and water quality response to management. Extensive observations will be made on the relationships between yield, crop growth, drain water quality, and fertilizer application timing.
Research being conducted under this cooperative agreement provides data on yield and grain variation as a function of soil properties, crop management, and nitrogen fertilizer rates and timing. ARS personnel collected plant, soil, and water samples from replicated management zones and transects across this field in 2011 and 2012.
