1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
We will acquire the basic knowledge of Agrostis genome relationships based on chromosome pairing and banding studies to differentiate the genomes of cultivated members of this genus. This information will be used by ARS to develop through classical breeding Agrostis germplasm with enhanced sustainability. The COOPERATOR will evaluate selections for possible germplasm release.
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Investigate the genome pairing and banding of cultivated Agrostis species.
Good progress has been made with respect to mitotic chromosome counts of Agrostis and Danthonia germplasm. In addition, Agrostis meiotic pairing has been examined.
This project was monitored by email, regular on-site communication, and progress reports.
