2011 Annual Report 1a.Objectives (from AD-416) To develop tools for assessing risk of obesity, and to evaluate an education intervention in head start children. 1b.Approach (from AD-416) Cooperative Extension at UCDavis will conduct the field study. WHNRC will collect blood samples and analyze at least 3 nutrition biomarkers from 130 children, times 4 samples each. 3.Progress Report The WHNRC played a major role in the design of this project during late FY2010 through the first half of FY2011. We also arranged for collection of the blood samples from children and their handling and storage at the WHNRC. Analyses of some samples, following completion of a 3-month nutrition education intervention, will not commence until FY2012.
