Research Project: APPLICATION FOR SOIL MOISTURE ACTIVE/PASSIVE (SMAP) SCIENCE DEFINITION TEAM

Location: Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory

2010 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
Proposal seeks to gain membership on the NASA SMAP mission science definition team. The science definition team will provide science feedback on SMAP mission design issues.

1b.Approach (from AD-416)
We have proposed a series of data assimilation experiment to aid in SMAP algorithm development and inform SMAP mission trade-offs.

3.Progress Report

Project has completed the development and testing of alternative validation systems for soil moisture products produced by the NASA Soil Moisture Active/Passive (SMAP) mission and is currently offering technical support for the development and implementation (via Observing System Simulation Experiments) of simulated SMAP data products produced by the SMAP product algorithm test bed.
