Research Project: BIOAVAILABILITY OF ENCAPSULATED PTEROSTILBENE
2011 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
Determine the bioavailability of encapsulated pterostilbene using encapsulation technology developed by Food Science and Technology, Australia (FSA)

1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Pterostilbene will be synthesized then encapsulated. Encapsulated pterostilbene will be administered to mice/rats. Levels of pterostilbene in mouse/rat serum will be determined.

3.Progress Report

This serves as the final report for this project as it has been completed. Food Science Australia has accomplished their part of the research, i.e.; encapsulation pterostilbene. The encapsulated compound has been used in feeding studies, and bioavailability of pterostilbene was determined. Results showed that the encapsulation process has not improved the bioavailability of pterostilbene. Activities of the project were monitored through emails and teleconferences.
