MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT DATABASE ENHANCEMENT
Location: Range Management Research
|
2010 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
To enhance database tools for ecosystem monitoring and assessment data collection, analysis, storage and dissemination.
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Databases and field data entry systems for each of the measurements described in "Monitoring Manual for Grassland, Shrubland and Savanna Ecosystems" will be enhanced with the guidance of the ADODR. The tools will be CCE (Federal Common Computing Environment) compliant.
3.Progress Report
During FY 2010, we released several new updates of a Tablet PC-based field data collection system and continued to work with users to improve the system. The database includes functions for field data collection and automated indicator calculation for both standard measurements and for methods recently developed by the Jornada and described in peer-reviewed journal publications. The updates included development of a more user-friendly initial interface, and new improvements to the reporting functions, addressing specific user concerns.
ADODR monitoring activities included frequent e-mail communication and discussions with the cooperator to address database modifications.
