Research Project: DATABASE DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT FOR BIOHEALTHBASE

Location: Exotic and Emerging Avian Viral Diseases Research Unit

2009 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
To compare avian influenza virus in different poultry species in order to develop the most relevant dataset about avian influenza that will be of benefit to the research community.

1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Scientists at the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory will provide guidance on the development of the database, provide information or current and past experiments to put in the database, and provide beta testing and feedback on the utility of the database. The information in the database will provide expanded research opportunities for scientists at Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory and others studying avian influenza by providing new ways to compare research information from different laboratories.

3.Progress Report

The project is related to objective 4 of the in-house project: Use molecular epidemiologic techniques and viral genomics to understand virus transmission and spread of avian influenza outbreaks in poultry and wild birds.

The proposed agreement has not been completely processed and signed, and therefore there is no progress on the project
