ASIAN CITRUS PSYLLID ATTRACTANTS AND REPELLENTS
Subtropical Insects and Horticulture Research
2013 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
To discover and identify attractants and repellents of the Asian citrus psyllid with the ultimate goal of finding volatiles that could be used in a pest management program for the psyllid.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
Volatiles from plants will be screened in the laboratory for attraction and repellency using y-tube olfactometers, four-arm olfactometers, wind tunnel assays, and EAG/EAD.
This project is related to Objective 3c: Investigate basic biology and ecology of the Asian citrus psyllid and its natural enemies in Florida citrus.
Research continued on evaluating various volatiles as attractants and repellents for the Asian citrus psyllid. To date, the most promising attractants have been volatiles associated with flush.
