Range Management Research
2010 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
To determine impacts of long-term training activities on soil and vegetation in southern New Mexico as a basis for management.
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
a) Continue monitoring established long-term monitoring plots on Holloman AFB and its geographically separated units and affiliated soil disturbance plots;
b) Continue development of a model to support planning for sustainable military training; and
c) Interpret and extrapolate data for the long-term monitoring project.
In FY 2010, we reported results from long-term monitoring plots and updated and enhanced the automated reporting capabilities of the database. The data will be used by the military and other organizations to identify the most resilient parts of desert landscapes, and by the military to identify the most appropriate locations for training activities. This serves as the final report.
