Research Project: MONITOR HABITAT

Location: Range Management Research

2009 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
To determine impacts of long-term training activities on soil and vegetation in southern New Mexico as a basis for management.

1b.Approach (from AD-416)
a) Continue monitoring established long-term monitoring plots on Holloman AFB and its geographically separated units and affiliated soil disturbance plots; b) Continue development of a model to support planning for sustainable military training; c) Interpret and extrapolate data for the long-term monitoring project.

3.Progress Report

In FY 2009, we completed a draft report of updated monitoring plot data. The data will be used by the military and other organizations to identify the most resilient parts of desert landscapes, and by the military to identify the most appropriate locations for training activities.
