1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
To determine recovery of 3 different ecological sites 10 years following simulated disturbances and undisturbed treatments in order to provide a basis for habitat management and a reference for habitat monitoring.
1b.Approach (from AD-416)
a) Continue monitoring established long-term monitoring plots on Holloman AFB and its geographically separated units and affiliated soil disturbance plots;
b) Continue development of a model to support planning for sustainable military training;
c) Interpret and extrapolate data for the long-term monitoring project.
In FY 2008, we completed 10-year re-measurement of disturbance plots (horse, foot trampling, and jeep) on all disturbance plots, summarized the data, completed the statistical analyses, and prepared a draft final report. The data will be used by the military and other organizations to identify the most resilient parts of desert landscapes, and by the military to identify the most appropriate locations for training activities.
