Monitor weather and climatic conditions across a network of locations in Oklahoma.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
The Oklahoma Mesonet will be given space for a research quality meteorological station and access to site. The Station is already in place.
This is the final report for this agreement which terminated in March 2013. The objective of this cooperative research agreement was to monitor weather and climatic conditions at the Southern Plains Range Research Station (SPRRS), Woodward, OK, between March 2008 and March 2013. Under this cooperative agreement, the SPRRS provided land space for an environmental monitoring station (MESONET) operated by the Oklahoma Climatological Service (OCS). The OCS received data from the MESONET, verified the quality, and provided the data to customers. Summaries of the data were made available to the public within 5 to 10 minutes of being acquired. The SPRRS used these data to help interpret the results from long-term ecological studies to be published in scientific peer-reviewed journals. These data can be accessed at http://www.mesonet.org.
