2012 Annual Report
1a.Objectives (from AD-416):
Monitor weather and climatic conditions across a network of locations in Oklahoma.
1b.Approach (from AD-416):
The Oklahoma Mesonet will be given space for a research quality meteorological station and access to site. The Station is already in place.
The objective of this cooperative research agreement is to monitor weather and climatic conditions at the Southern Plains Range Research Station (SPPRS), Woodward, OK. Under this cooperative agreement, the SPRRS provided land space for an environmental monitoring station (Mesonet) operated by the Oklahoma Climatological Service (OCS). The OCS received observations from the Mesonet, verified the quality of the data and provided the data to customers. The measurements were made available to the public within 5 to 10 minutes after they were acquired. The SPRRS used the local Mesonet data to help interpret biological and agricultural data collected near the Mesonet site for our journal publications. Mesonet data can be accessed on the Internet at http://www.mesonet.org.
