1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
The objective of this cooperative research project is to develop methods to use eriophyid mites for biological control of weeds.


1b.Approach (from AD-416)
We will conduct research on the taxonomy, behavior and ecology of eriophyid mites associated with noxious weeds such as yellow starthistle and Russian thistle. Documents NFCA with U. of Bari, IT.


3.Progress Report

The goal of this project is to study the biology of prospective eriophyid mite biological control agents of weeds, which contributes directly to Objective 2 of the inhouse project. Progress was monitored periodically by email. We conducted experiments to evaluate the effect of predatory mites on a prospective eriophyid mite biological control agent of Russian thistle. The goal of this project is to study the biology of prospective eriophyid mite biological control agents of weeds, which contributes directly to Objective 2 of the in-house project.
