Research Project: CONSERVATION EFFECTS ASSESSMENT PROJECT

Location: Great Basin Rangelands Research

2008 Annual Report

1a.Objectives (from AD-416)
Principal focus of the CEAP effort is to produce a national assessment of environmental benefits of conservation programs to support policy decision and program implementation.

1b.Approach (from AD-416)
Utilize ARS historical watershed databases to validate the SWAT model and then utilize this model to determine the impact of conservation practices on water quality, soil quality, air quality, and wildlife habitat. Documents reimbursable with NRCS-CEAP. Log 33720.

3.Progress Report

Work was delayed on this project 1 full year as the incoming resources were not received until after the field season in 2007. Work now is on-going with cooperators in two local Resource Conservation District offices (Yolo RCD and Sotoyome RCD) cooperating on assessment activities. This agreement, only functions as a shell to bring in new resources to aid in the field assessment activities and thus the primary project reports will be given in the two subordinate CRISes ( 5325-22000-020-29S and 5325-22000-020-30S).
