Location: Subtropical Horticulture Research

2006 Annual Report

4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a specific cooperative agreement between ARS and the University of Florida, Tropical Research and Education Center. Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 6631-22000-003-OOD Protection of Subtropical & Tropical Agriculture Commodities & Ornamentals from Exotic Insects. Studies have been initiated on biological control of invasive homopteran pests of ornamental plants that have recently become established in and are spreading throughout south Florida. As part of this research, laboratory colonies of the papaya mealybug and the Asian citrus psyllid have been established and research on basic biology of these pests as well as effect of parasitoids and hyperparasitoids in homeowner and commercial plantings is ongoing.
