2005 Annual Report
4d.Progress report.
This report serves to document research conducted under a Specific Cooperative Agreement between ARS and the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Mississippi. Additional details can be found in the report for the parent project 6408-13000-012-00D, Integrated Analysis of Landscape Processes for Management of Agricultural Watersheds. A field investigation of wind and wave characteristics in an irrigation pond near Lonoke, Arkansas was performed. As a result, the applicability of deep-water wind-wave theory and empirical relationships for the relationship between fetch length, wind speed, and wave characteristics was validated. Equipment for laboratory model experiments was secured and the modification of an existing flume for use as a wave tank was initiated.
