|
2004 Annual Report
4.What were the most significant accomplishments this past year?
D. This report serves to document research conducted under a Reimbursable Agreement between ARS and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Additional details of research can be found in the report for the parent CRIS 6408-13000-012-00D, Integrated Analysis of Landscape Processes for the Management of Agricultural Watersheds. The Goodwin Creek Experimental Watershed (GCEW), has been designated as a Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) benchmark watershed which necessitated updating and expanding the data base with assistance from NRCS personnel. This will allow the improved data base to be used to more fully evaluate the effect of conservation practices on the movement of water, sediment, nutrients, and other contaminants through the watershed. The data base will be a key component for the evaluation of specific management techniques and be used to evaluate ARS watershed simulation models (AnnAGNPS and SWAT) models on the GCEW.
