Dr. Mark A. Liebig serves as a Research Soil Scientist at the USDA-ARS Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory (NGPRL). Originally from a small farm in the central Platte Valley of Nebraska, Mark holds degrees from University of Colorado (B.A.) and University of Nebraska (M.S. and Ph.D.). Mark’s research program at NGPRL is broad, encompassing soil quality and gas flux evaluations of crop, grazing, biofuel, and integrated management systems. He is an ARCPACS Certified Professional Soil Scientist, holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Soil Science at North Dakota State University, and serves as an Associate Editor for Soil Science Society of America Journal. Mark has held elected offices in the Soil Science Society of America and Soil and Water Conservation Society, and has authored or co-authored >140 publications in scientific journals, proceedings, book chapters, extension bulletins, and popular press newsletters.
